Ontario apple pie
For the shortcrust pastry:
- 300 g wheat flour
- 200 g organic butter
- 1 pinch of salt
- 5 spoonfuls cold water
- 1 teaspoon honey
Mix quickly flour, salt, honey, butter and water. Put the dough in the fridge and in the meantime prepare the filling.
For the filling:
- 1,2 kg peeled apples
- juice and peel of ½ organic lemon
- 3 spoonfuls honey
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- a little cardamom
- 100 g grated almonds
- 100 g raisin
Grate the apples and immediately pour the lemon juice, then mix with the other ingredients.
Flatten the dough: two circles (bottom and lid) and the edges, with the rest cut out some little shapes.
Put the filling on the bottom and cover with the lid. Make a cross on the lid to let the steam out.
Bake at 200 ℃ for 40 minutes.
Serve with or without whipped cream or vanilla sauce.
